Overview

To ensure the best experience for all players in Avalon, we have established avatar requirements that balance visual quality with performance. These guidelines help maintain smooth gameplay while allowing for creative expression.

2

Models Required

You need separate avatars for Combat and Casual situations.

Medium+

Quality Standard

All avatars should aim for medium quality or better in VRChat rankings.

General Requirements

Height Limits

Your character must be within the acceptable height range to maintain immersion and prevent issues with large bounding boxes.

0.98 ft
(0.3 meters)
Minimum
8 ft
(2.44 meters)
Maximum

There is a white bar in the spawn box to check your height.

Invisibility Powers

If your character has in-character invisibility powers or toggles, they must meet these requirements:

  • Must be semi-visible when active, OR
  • Must have toggles that keep you visible to staff

This ensures Narrators and DMs can always see where you are for story calls.

Speed Toggles

Speed-related toggles and abilities must be highly regulated. They should be limited to a number of short bursts over a period of time, not continuous high-speed movement.

Wall-See Gimmicks

Any gimmicks that allow players to see through walls must be limited to 200 meters range. This prevents unfair advantages while still allowing for creative abilities.

Audio Requirements

All audio on your avatar MUST be 3D audio. Global audio (audio that plays at the same volume regardless of distance) is strictly prohibited. This ensures a proper spatial audio experience for all players.

Accessibility Requirements

These rules are strictly enforced to protect players with medical conditions.

Seizure Safety Warning

NO Screen-Space Shaders

Screen-space effects that overlay the entire view are prohibited. These can trigger seizures in photosensitive individuals.

NO Distortion Particles

Particle effects that distort or warp the screen are not allowed. Keep your particles standard and non-distorting.

We have players in our community who experience seizures. This rule is strictly enforced with no exceptions.

Avatar Hard Limits

These are the maximum specifications for your avatars. Staying within these limits ensures smooth performance for everyone.

Tips & Notes

🎵

Audio Optimization

Use "Animator Play Audio" for your sound effects. This is more efficient and provides better control over when sounds play.

GPU Instancing

Always enable GPU Instancing on your particle materials. This significantly improves performance for mesh particles.

Public Avatars

Using a public avatar? They may be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Please check with a DM if you're unsure about compatibility.

These limits are subject to change in the future as our community grows or as VRChat updates its performance recommendations. We'll always announce any changes in advance.
